Collection: Leveling system
With the leveling system laying aid , you can lay large-format tiles perfectly and without over-toothing. The leveling system from fliesenwerkzeug24 is easy to use, inexpensive to replace and delivers great results.
Why should I use a leveling system installation aid?
When laying tiles, it is particularly important that the surface is perfectly prepared in advance. You should definitely check the surface for unevenness before laying and correct them if necessary. If you have a perfectly prepared surface, the likelihood of hollow layers or excess teeth forming is only half as high.
The laying aid is now used for laying tiles. The application is easily and quickly integrated into the laying process. A laying aid minimizes the risk of excess teeth and ensures a perfect joint pattern. If you use the leveling system laying aid commercially, the likelihood of complaints due to excess teeth is significantly lower than without a leveling system laying aid.
How does the leveling system installation aid work?
The way the leveling system installation aid works is as simple as it is effective. The leveling system consists of two components, the leveling system threaded brackets and the leveling system pull hoods . The threaded tabs consist of a small base plate from which a threaded tab protrudes. The threaded tab is placed under the tile with the base plate. The next tile is then placed in the adhesive bed so that the threaded tab between the two tiles is fixed in the joint. Now only the thread can be seen. Now the draft hood comes into use. This is screwed onto the thread of the threaded bracket, which means that the threaded bracket base plate, which is located under the two adjacent tiles, raises or lowers the tiles to the same level. Make sure that you do not initially tighten the pull hood with too much force; you can readjust the pull hood at any time as long as the adhesive is not yet solid. More about this under “Application”. The leveling system can be used both when laying on the floor and on the wall.
What do I need for laying with the leveling system laying aid?
To lay tiles with the leveling system, in addition to your regular laying tools, you will need our threaded tabs and pull hoods (often also called rotating caps). The advantage over other leveling systems is that you don't need any additional tools such as pliers or guns.
The leveling system threaded brackets
When it comes to the threaded brackets for the leveling system, we differentiate between the basic threaded brackets, the cross-threaded brackets and the T-piece threaded brackets. We will first look at the basic threaded brackets; you will definitely need these for laying with the leveling system laying aid.
The basic threaded tabs of the leveling system
As explained above in the text, the basic threaded brackets consist of a base plate from which a threaded pin protrudes. The basic threaded tabs are available for different joint widths. The width of the joint is determined by the bar in the middle of the tab. This is either 1, 2, or 3 mm wide. However, you can use the basic threaded tabs for any joint width if you simply insert joint crosses of the desired width as usual and only use the basic threaded tabs for leveling.
Here you will find the leveling system threaded brackets.
Cross and T-piece threaded brackets of the leveling system
The cross and T-piece threaded tabs can be used like conventional joint crosses or T-pieces, with the advantage that you can also level the tiles with these threaded tabs. The cross thread tabs are available in joint widths of 2, 3 and 4 mm. They are distinguished by their colors (yellow, blue or green) so that you can see at a glance which joint width you are using. The cross-threaded tabs have webs on the base plate in the form of a joint cross. They are installed in addition to the basic threaded brackets. The only difference between the T-piece threaded straps and the cross-threaded straps is the webs on the base plate, which form a T here (e.g. for laying in a half-assembly). They are also used in addition to the basic threaded brackets and are available in three joint widths.
The pull hoods (rotating caps) of the leveling system laying aid
When it comes to draft hoods, we differentiate between the black/transparent draft hoods and the gray draft hoods. You choose the right draft hood based on the thickness of the tiles you want to lay.
Difference between draft hoods:
- Black/transparent pull hoods: for tile thicknesses 3 - 12 mm
- gray pull hoods: for tile thickness 12 - 20 mm
Note: The threaded tabs are compatible with every pull hood (except items 12458, 12459 - these can only be used with the gray pull hoods. More information here!)
Inside the pull hoods there is an internal thread with which the rotary caps are screwed onto the threaded tabs. On the gray pull hoods, this thread is located higher up, which makes it easier to level thicker tiles such as: B. natural stone slabs possible. However, the most commonly used draft hoods are the black draft hoods for tiles up to 12 mm thick. New to the range are our transparent draft hoods, which are particularly suitable for sensitive surfaces as they do not leave any marks on the tile surface. Like the black draft hoods, the transparent draft hoods are suitable for tiles with a thickness of 3 to 12 mm. The leveling system pull hoods are available in different packaging units and in ready-made sets with the matching basic threaded tabs.
Here you will find the leveling system pull hoods!
Tip: The draw hoods (swivel caps) are reusable. However, make sure that they do not accumulate too much adhesive so that the tiles do not become dirty. Either clean the draft hoods after use or replace them with new draft hoods.
How do I use the leveling system installation aid correctly?
In just 4 simple steps you can use the tile leveling system to achieve a perfect floor without excess teeth. Before you start laying, make sure that the surface is perfectly prepared. You should also use the buttering-floating process for large formats. Here, in addition to applying adhesive to the floor, a thin layer of adhesive is applied to the underside of the tiles. This prevents hollow layers from forming between the adhesive and the tile. You can find out more about the buttering floating method here.
Step 1: Apply the adhesive to the prepared surface and place the first tile in the adhesive bed. Take a base threaded tab and place it with the base plate under the tile. Place a base thread tab under the tile at a distance of 5 cm from each tile corner. (For long and narrow tiles such as wood look tiles, you should place an additional base tab in the middle of the long side so that you can level the tiles safely).
Step 2: Place the second tile next to the first so that the base thread tabs are fixed in the joint between the tiles. Now only the thread of the base thread tabs should be visible.
Step 3: Now screw the pull hood onto the thread of the base tab. The rotational movement raises or lowers the adjacent tiles to the same level. Be sure to work with sensitivity here and make sure that you do not turn with too much force. Stop once you feel the draft hood is firmly seated on the base tab and the tiles are level. You can readjust the draw hoods later. Now continue laying like this and then allow the adhesive to harden completely.
Step 4: After the adhesive bed has hardened, you can twist the pull hoods off the threaded tabs. The draft hoods are reusable. Collect these conveniently in the transport bucket provided. The basic threaded tabs have a predetermined breaking point on the base plate. Carefully break off the thread in the direction of the joint and discard it. The base plate remains under the tile and is simply grouted. The perfect tiled floor without excess teeth is ready .
How many leveling system threaded brackets and pull hoods do I need for my project?
You can use our practical consumption table to calculate your expected thread plate consumption
The table works as follows:
- You want to lay tiles in the format 60 (side A) x 30 cm (side B) .
- In the table side A go to the value 60 and on side B go to the value 30
- Now move into the table until side A and side B meet in the middle
- Now you have the value of threaded tabs that you probably need per square meter (= 22 threaded tabs per m²)
- With a room size of e.g. B. 20 m², this corresponds to a consumption of approx. 440 basic threaded tabs
Attention : Based on the square footage, you don't need as many draft hoods as you need threaded tabs because the draft hoods are reusable. After you have laid the first square meters, you can unscrew the draft hoods the next day (after the glue has dried) and can simply reuse them for the next square meters.

The right accessories for the leveling system laying aid
There are often very sensitive tiles that suddenly appear to have traces just by looking at them. But such tiles also need to be laid without teeth. To ensure that they are not scratched or dirty during the leveling process, there are our practical washers item FW12489. The washers are simply inserted between the tile and the draft hood and prevent the draft hood from coming into contact with the tile. The washers can of course be used with any tile. They are reusable and made of robust PVC. You will receive 100 pieces per bag.
You can find more information about the washers here.
